2025 CSA Info
The Birney’s Miracle Farm CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a 10 week program, starting as soon as we have a harvest, which will vary slightly every year based on the weather. By partnering with us with the CSA program, you help us share the risk, and benefits of the season. Your membership helps us by paying for our spring inputs, and during harvest, you will receive weekly “shares” of fresh picked, high quality produce, straight from our fields. If the season lasts longer than 10 weeks, you may buy more shares at the end of the season. When there is a limited amount of a certain crop, our CSA customers will have access to that crop, before we put it at the stand to sell. Another benefit of membership, is that you don’t have to wait in line to pay for your produce, just simply pick up your weekly share during one of three convenient time slots, as detailed below. Though it has never happened before, in the unfortunate event of a devastating natural disaster, we would unfortunately be unable to offer a refund for your membership. The consensus among CSA participants is that the quality and convenience far outweighs the risk.
We offer a small share (equivalent to a peck), which is roughly 10lbs for $20/week, and a large share (equivalent to a 1/2 bushel) which is roughly 20lbs for $40/week. We feel the small share would be enough to supply 1- 2 people for the week, and a large share would supply a family of 4 for the week. We realize that some items, such as sweet corn and melons, due to their weight, would take up most of the box, but we will make sure that you are getting your money’s worth every week. The availability of certain items can’t be guaranteed from week to week, but if there is a shortage of one item, it will be made up for with something else. With our CSA we do offer you the option to opt out of certain vegetables. Our CSA is a little different from traditional CSAs in that we give you the choice to pack your own share, or to have us pack it for you. This way you can choose exactly what you want from week to week. Along with being able to request specific items, and pack your own share, if you want a larger quantity of one thing, say you want to can/freeze beans, we can fill your whole share with only beans that week, you just have to give us a little notice to make sure we have the specific item on hand.
When Strawberries are in season (usually in June) we will contact you with their availability on a weekly basis. Three quarts of Strawberries is equivalent to 1 small CSA weekly share. You don’t have to take 3 quarts at a time, but we keep track of how many quarts you get over the course of the season, to calculate how many “weekly shares” you used on berries.
If you will be out of town one week, or wish to skip a week, please let us know and we will add a week onto the end of the season for you. You can also have a family member or friend pick up your basket that week if you wish.
Please refer to the list of what we will be growing in the 2025 season. If you would like to sign up for this year’s CSA, please fill out the form below. The first half of your payment will need to be made by February 20 , 2025, and the second half by March 20, 2025. If you would like to sign up, but for some reason you can’t make the payments by the due dates, please contact us and we will work out a different payment plan.
Please print the application and the item selection list and fill them both out and mail them, along with your check to the address listed below. We will send out an email to all the members updating you on the progress as the season approaches, and letting you know approximately when you should receive your first basket. During the main season, Pick up days will be Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at the farm stand. We will also be at the Pataskala Farmers Markets on most Fridays during their market season, and baskets can be picked up there as well.
Thank you for your interest in our CSA. We hope that you will sign up and partner with us in making 2025 a great season! If you have any questions please feel free to message us on Facebook, or you can call or text us at 740-408-7750 and ask for Caren.
